Your Screening Day — Simple, Safe, and Could Save a Life
03 January 2026
For many people, the idea of a heart screening sounds intimidating. In reality, the process is straightforward, comfortable, and designed to be as easy as possible. A typical screening appointment with Calon Hearts takes around 20 minutes and involves three simple steps: registration, testing, and review.
After you arrive and complete a short health questionnaire, one of our trained staff members will take your blood pressure and record an ECG (electrocardiogram). This painless test involves attaching a few small sensors to your chest, arms, and legs to measure your heart’s electrical activity. It’s completely safe and gives our specialists valuable information about how your heart is working.
Once the test is complete, your results are reviewed by a qualified cardiac physiologist and, if necessary, by a cardiologist. If we detect anything out of the ordinary, you’ll be advised on what to do next and referred for follow-up care. Many people leave reassured that their heart is healthy — others leave with potentially life-saving information.
We run screening sessions in community halls, schools, workplaces, and sports facilities across Wales. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, and we’re always happy to answer questions. For parents, it’s a chance to ensure their children are safe to take part in sports. For adults, it’s a simple step toward better health awareness.
A heart screening can’t prevent every cardiac event, but it dramatically increases the chances of early diagnosis and intervention. For the sake of 20 minutes and a small donation, it’s one of the most valuable things you can do for yourself or your family.
